Jazz Vocalist Anne Burnell’s New CD Release Celebrating the Harold Arlen Centennial is Now Available

Accompanied by Some of Jazz’s All Time Great Performers

Chicago (February 2005)—Award-winning vocalist Anne Burnell, formerly Anne Pringle, is pleased to announce that her 3rd CD, BLUES IN THE NIGHT: THE SONGS OF HAROLD ARLEN is now available at CDBaby.com, TowerRecords.com and Amazon.com.  In Chicago, the CD is also available at Tower Records, and the Jazz Record Mart.

With arrangements by Count Basie Band veteran of 16 years Bob Ojeda, this CD is already receiving accolades. Jeff Rossen of CABARET SCENES has said of this recording:

“Burnell's engaging performance style instantly grabs the ear, and she does here what she does so well, not so much performing her musical choices as sharing them with us. Arlen himself would be pleased with this marvelous tribute-celebration.”

BLUES IN THE NIGHT: Songs by Harold Arlen was recently featured on WGN Radio 720am, “Sunday Papers with Rick Kogan,” and is currently being played on Chicago's #1 National Public Radio station, WBEZ 91.5FM, as well as WDCB, 90.0 FM, and MilesAheadJazz.com.

Among the musicians accompanying Ms. Burnell on this recording are Ojeda on trumpet, former Frank Sinatra Band trombonist Bill Porter, and Chicago's own, legendary violinist Johnny Frigo.

Composer Harold Arlen was born on February 15, 1905, and wrote many of the great American standards including “Over the Rainbow,” “Stormy Weather,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” and “The Man That Got Away,” all of which are given special treatment by Burnell’s velvety voice on this exciting new CD. The disk also includes many of his lesser-known classics like “A Woman's Prerogative,” and “Happy with the Blues,” which Arlen co-wrote with Miss Peggy Lee.
